Seiko Prospex Marinemaster 1968 Heritage Diver's JAMSTEC

Seiko's Arctic Dive: 1,000 Pieces, No Frills

Seiko continues its marine exploration legacy with a limited edition that nods to its deep-sea roots and ongoing partnership with JAMSTEC.

This isn't just another dive watch. It's the Ref. HBF002, a 42.6mm stainless steel piece that dives into Seiko's history with the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology. The collaboration dates back to the 1980s when Seiko tested its diver's watches aboard JAMSTEC's SHINKAI 2000 submersible.

The dial is where things get interesting. Inspired by icebreaker tracks, it features a blue gradient that darkens toward the center, topped with a polished transparent coating. It's meant to evoke the Arctic Ocean's depths—if you're into that sort of thing.

Inside, you'll find Seiko's Caliber 8L45. It boasts improved mainspring design and precise accuracy adjustments, offering a power reserve of about three days and accuracy between -5 to +10 seconds per day. Not bad for an automatic.

The watch is water-resistant to 300 meters and features a blue ceramic bezel with LumiBrite, dual-curved sapphire crystal, and solid caseback. It comes on a stainless steel bracelet with a slide adjuster for easy fitting.

Limited to 1,000 pieces and available in July 2026. If you appreciate Seiko's dive heritage without the fluff, this might be worth a look.
